Product Description
Painted on cotton canvas using traditional Tibetan methods, this Buddha Mara Thangka features primarily of 24K gold along with different contrasting colors of yellow, blue, green, red and purple. These full range of colors invites practitioners to contemplate the complexity of enlightenment. At the center is Shakyamuni Buddha, the enlightened one, seated in a meditative posture on a lotus throne. His right-hand gesture shows the earth-touching gesture, symbolizing his victory over Mara and attaining enlightenment. His left hand lies in the meditation gesture, holding bowl. It symbolizes inner peace and balance. His calm facial expression embodies ultimate wisdom and compassion.
The background is richly ornate, featuring intricate patterns of clouds, lotuses, and mythical creatures. Surrounding him are various characters and elements, including fierce-looking animals like elephants, lions, dragons, and snow lions positioned around the upper and side areas. There are also other divine beings, integrated into the designs of jewels. The entire composition is framed by a deep red border, creating a sense of enclosed sacred space filled with symbolic abundance and protection.
This Shakyamuni Buddha Mara Thangka is a painting that depicts the pivotal moment of Siddhartha Gautama's enlightenment. It symbolizes his victory over Mara, the demon who personifies all temptations, fears, and delusions. In home decor, this thangka provides a serene and spiritually rich focal point. Beyond its aesthetic beauty, it functions as a meditation aid, infusing a space with a sense of peace and resilience.

In modern spaces, thangkas bring together tradition and contemporary design. Once used mainly in temples, these sacred artworks now enhance homes, offices, and galleries with their vibrant colors and deep symbolism.
