Product Description

The Chengresi set thangka is crafted on traditional cotton canvas, showcasing traditional Tibetan thangka painting techniques. The color palette features serene greens, soft yellows, and deep reds, creating a tranquil yet spiritually uplifting atmosphere that invites contemplation.

At the center, Chenrezig, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, is one of calmness with four arms in elegant gestures. His lotus blossom and prayer mudra stand for spiritual awakening and purity, while a mala signifies ongoing meditation. Adorned with intricate, jewel-like ornaments and flowing robes, he sits on a lotus throne, signifying purity rising from samsara’s murky waters. Surrounding him are Vairochana and Akshobhaya on the top left, embodying the purity of the dharmakaya and unshakeable stability; Amitabha at the top center, representing infinite light and life; Ratnasambhava and Amoghasiddhi on the top right, symbolizing generosity and all-accomplishing wisdom; Manjushree on the bottom left, embodying transcendent wisdom; and the wrathful Vajrapani on the bottom right, representing indestructible power and protection. The background showcases a lush landscape with snow-capped mountains, flowing rivers, and ethereal clouds, enhancing the divine setting.

Symbolically, Chenrezig’s pose and multiple arms represent his ability to aid all beings, while the surrounding deities embody wisdom and power. The artist’s skillful use of fine lines and balanced composition reflects a mastery of traditional thangka artistry. Culturally, this thangka holds profound significance in Tibetan Buddhism, serving as a meditative aid and a visual representation of the bodhisattva path, deeply embedded in rituals and teachings.

The colors used in the thangka painting are sourced from minerals like lapis lazuli for blue, cinnabar for red, and malachite for green. These minerals are ground into fine powders and mixed with animal glue to form a vibrant medium.

Natural Colors in Thangka

All the colors used in the thankgas are made from natural minerals. Ground into pigments, they carry the essence of the earth. Unlike artificial colors, these natural tones shine with honesty, adding depth, life, and spiritual meaning to each canvas.
