Product Description

Known as Guru Rinpoche or Padmasambhava (The Lotus-Born), this enlightened master is revered across Tibet and the Himalayan region as the founder of Vajrayana Buddhism. A Ghau (or Gau) Thangka is a traditional Tibetan Buddhist amulet container worn to keep his powerful protective energy close.

This unique portable shrine features a meticulously detailed, hand-painted miniature Thangka of Guru Rinpoche encased within an ornate metal locket.

Key Features & Spiritual Significance

  • Guru Rinpoche Image: The central deity is the embodiment of fearless wisdom, spiritual mastery, and the power to swiftly remove obstacles, both inner and outer.

  • Authentic Ghau Design: The metal locket acts as a portable Buddhist shrine and protective box, traditionally used to hold the mini-Thangka, folded mantras, or sacred relics.

  • Handcrafted Himalayan Art: Each small Thangka painting is created by highly skilled Newari or Tibetan artisans using traditional techniques and natural mineral pigments (often including gold detailing).

  • Powerful Protection Amulet: Wearing the Ghau Locket is believed to invoke Guru Rinpoche’s blessings for personal protection, transformation, and a clear, awakened mind.

CONSECRATION OF PRODUCT

For requests for consecrations/blessings, we can take the thangka to monasteries or Rinpoches from the nearby Boudha Stupa. We kindly ask you to offer $50 for the monasteries for blessings/consecration services.

Natural Colors in Thangka

All the colors used in the thankgas are made from natural minerals. Ground into pigments, they carry the essence of the earth. Unlike artificial colors, these natural tones shine with honesty, adding depth, life, and spiritual meaning to each canvas.

Ghau Locket Thangka

A Ghau Thangka is a hand-painted, miniature Nepalese Buddhist scroll that is housed in an elaborate metal shrine. It is sometimes spelled Gau or Ghau. The living energy of enlightened deities, including Green Tara, Medicine Buddha, Mahakala, and Guru Rinpoche, is carried by this portable altar, which can be worn as a pendant or held near the heart. In contrast to regular jewellery, each Ghau Thangka is consecrated through ancient rabné (blessing) rituals by a qualified lama. The end effect is a talisman that, wherever you go, exudes healing, protection, and spiritual strength.
